Finally a Job!!

Well hello my Bloggers,

Its been a while an really missed writing to The World....hope u missed me...

Things have been pretty hectic..been applying for work and doing part time work as well including my Massage Therapy which has brought in extra cash...

In the Month of October My son landed up getting an Apprenticeship, and hope he sticks with this Job, I always say to them Work, Save get your Qualifications once you have that then you can can explore the world.

My daughter got a Trade Assistant Job which is awesome too, and something that she enjoys so another happy smile my way :-)

Had our kitchen re-done thank good ness! Hubby did all the tiling and looks awesome.

Me, oyea this is about ME ....dah I landed up going through a recruitment FIFO for 3 weeks one medical to induction after induction...it was a long process but worthwile.

Landed up going to a Mine site Christmas Creek, now as usual its really hot and I mean REALLLLY HOT, flies are your friends as you hit the ground..

The crew that came up with me were awesome, the people at this mine site, were suprisingly Really nice and helpful, I found if you come in with an attitude  you are not going to be well liked, we just blended in, went to where we were needed.

My room was nice an big..wish we had a bigger tv but by the time we go to our rooms, it was shower and bed.,,, lol

Reason why we do this is because of the good money, but landed up doing 10 hours and not 12 which is sad as reason why alot of us do this is to help with the up roaring expenses of the daily run of household expenses....but a job is a job, and we work 2/1 as casual and dont get paid for the week off.

When i left I was pretty upset as the Welcome we got compared to other sites were amazing and would of loved to stay another week....the thought of coming home to cook and clean..ahhhh already seem to get that headache just thinking about it.

I have been working at the schools as a TE and love it, its great.

 By the way I read this book to the kids and cannot believe how it has an effect on them it was so good...give it a try..

Well hope you all have been well, and remember someone out there are in the same situation as some of us , could be from sad, to homeless, poor, and so much more, all i can say is appreciate everything around you,  tell the person next to you that you Love them, or call a friend and just say thank you ,,,cause the smallest thing like that can change a persons life ...

RECRUITMENT AGENCIES FOR FIFO (FLY IN FLY OUT) JUST BLOWS MY MIND...

So I am not sure how everyone landed up on the Mines, sure through there trades, experience, credentials etc...and good on you..

BUT what I want to know is for all those people who have never been on the mine sites, and want to work hard, show there capabilities and pursue a career path !

CAN YOU OR WILL YOU EVER BE HIRED ???

Let me explain this to you, as per the procedure !

1. Send in Resume

2. Get called and asked a few questions about the position and what

    you looking for.

3. Asked if you available for Interview and Medical !

4. Some people drive 2hrs to the Interview (if you live regional 

    of course) get there talk to all those lovely ladies who applied,  

    some have no experience and also looking for a way in and  

    some have got the same experience that you have.

5. You then get an email to do the Medical...Let me tell you its 

     about 2 hrs of step, Lifting, sit ups, stretches, this that...urine  

    analysis, hearing, sight.., and staff are really nice I must say but  

     had a peek and all passmark THANK GOODNESS...

6. Reference checks and then the Introduction to the Company. 

So medical gets done on Monday, and you wait and wait, then you receive email UNSUCCESSFUL......

So I would like to ASK to all those recruitment companies, and honestly feel that we should have feedback ! 

Dont you agree, Did we dress funny (not that I did) ha Everyone gets nervous, we have the experience so What gives? 

For example:  Another friend applied for a cleaning Job well experience in this field however no FIFO experience. Went for medical etc and then gets an email to say sorry "unsuccessful we took on another cleaner with FIFO experience".....Why then ask her to go for the Medical if they looking for FIFO experience ? Why then does she make an effort to book hotel and bus as she really wants to pursue a career in FIFO goes for interview. 

Is these medicals a money making thing or what, I understand if your references are good and interview went well, yes then medical and you know for a fact you pass ...

Another scenario, When I was working up north and spoke to all the girls up there, I went for interview, medical the whole tooty fruity, and was successful, some of the other girls never was interviewed all they got was the Induction on line and plane ticket to there destination ??  And she was not the only one !

 

This still does not answer my question ?

How can people get on the mine site with no FIFO experience and yet the ones that have cannot..

For some its pure luck and good on you for not giving up.

Oh hang on its just hit me..Its your cousins sisters brothers niece, oh not its your neighbor...damn my apologies its your partners mates wife... 

Lets be serious I personally think you all need to take a harder look into the real deal of recruiting, when I was on a site, we had people doing Breathalysers and blind eye turning the other way, and here we are hard working and implementing the rules and regulations...

Damn I should of slept with the chef oh no the supervisor oooops the gardener...sorry but that's how it feels (not that i would of course and only to some and not to all implying )

So Please let me understand this I could be wrong help me to understand as I want to do the physical work,  and alot of other woman out there also as there kids are older husbands also fifo and can suit alot of couples too.

So I have said my say and would like to know and give me an insight to the requirements...

Then I might just understand it..

When Kids Say "Dont Worry" How As Parents can WE NOT WORRY!!! I Mean Really

Morning All,

What is it with kids of today, I have 2 almost adults and STILL LIVE at home, mind you i dont mind because I sleep better.

My son, well where do I start with him He was the most gorgeous baby, fat one too and just loved his breast milk ha hah he drank so  much that, i know this sounds weird but I made sure that I had coke next to me because that for some reason filled my boobs up quick with milk. How ? Who Knows.

He was the mischievous one, typical boy, always had scars from falls like jumping off the roof or doing something like a real dare devil. Im sure he had ADHG FJKL WHOKNOWS!

Always a lovable kid, and has the heart of gold!

During the time of his teens we had issues like any parent but we stood our ground, hubby made sure he knew if he stood out of line, as in Australia alot of kids have no respect for there parents, and its such a shame.  We help them to the best of our ability and clothe them and feed them and sometimes hanging around the wrong people they get influenced.

A while ago my son moved in his flat with his girlfriend and all his mates were the best as per his say!..little did he realise that they all stole from him! And us as parents notice this before he even knew and he would get annoyed at us.

Thing is with Gee is that he has the heart of gold, and THATS where people take advantage of him.

I mean really when he worked he got paid he had so many friends around when he had no money you dont see anyone! Whats with these people!

I was there through thick and thin when he cried when he needed things, and as much as they make us angry we are always there for him.

So My point is When they go out to friends place and say I will be back soon and come home the following morning!! I have had like 3 hours sleep and as a Parent you cannot sleep and wonder why hes not picking up his phone, is he safe, has he had an accident ? where could he be, and for the life of me WHY CANT TEENS see how it upsets us.

SO...........the solution is HURRY have your own child because then you will see the unconditional love that you have and see why we worry the way we do..

So Gee if you ever find this, we worry because we Care and Love you and would hate to have a knock at the door to say something has happened,

Memory Lane of Recipes that go way back...

I have bought so many books and for the recipes as I love baking and trying new dishes, eventually found that I never really used them so I reverted to the Old Style Book which my Mom In Law gave me, and I think thats why she loved me as she knew her son would be well fed ha ha ..

I have tried this and so easy and really tasty and amazingly moist.

BOILED FRUIT CAKE (MOMS XMAS CAKE)

4 X Cups mixed dry Fruit
500g Butter or Marge
2 x Cups Water
1 x Tsp Bicarb
1 x Cup Peacan / Walnuts
1 x Cup Cherries
4 x Cups Self Raising Flour
1 x Tsp Baking Powder
1 x Wine Glass Brandy
4 x Eggs
1 x Tsp Vanilla Essence

METHOD

Boil Butter, Sugar , Water Dried Fruit and Bicarb for 20 minutes.
Take off stove add flour, pinch salt, Nuts, Cherries and lastly beaten eggs, Brandy and Essence.

Grease Tin and line with grease proof paper

Bake 140 deg +- 1 3/4 hours.

Now this recipe is way back from South Africa and very popular its called 

MILK TART

As stated in her book "Moms Milk Tart"

INGREDIENTS

4 1/2 cups Milk
3 x Eggs
2 1/2 x Tbsp Flour
2 1/2 x Tbsp Maizena
3 x Tbsp Butter
3/4 x Cups Sugar
Pinch Salt

METHOD

Place Milk on stove and boil
Beat  Eggs, Butter, Sugar, Flour, Maizena and salt (separate Bowl)
Pour into milk when boiling point , beat thoroughly until thick

CRUST

Generally any biscuit mixture as with me my home base is either too thin or just fights with me so i always use a biscuit base , of your choice and butter and line around dish well covered press hard

Add mixture and bake for about 20/30 minutes.
sprinkle with cinamon on top
Optional in milk mixture is almond essence...soooo nice

I as a kid use to love these anything with coconut was delicious.

INGREDIENTS

4 x cups sugar
1 x cup milk
400g coconut
colouring

METHOD

Melt sugar and milk and boil a few minutes
Add coconut
boil another few minutes
Remove from stove and add a few drops colouring  beat 2 minutes with wooden spoon
Pour into buttered tray and leave to set .

Now that is as per hand written book, i would presume to do the 2 colours you pour in first half then use colourant in 2nd half

                                                      GAELIC CREAM (LIKE AMARULA)

 

INGREDIENTS

1/3 Bottle of whisky

3 Tins Nestle cream

2 Tsp Vanilla Essence

2 Tsp Coffee mixed with a little water

1 Tsp Glycerine

Beat all together Well and Bottle and Refrigerate

FIFO Experience and Catch up on our Holiday !

Well hello Bloggers , hope everyone has missed me I have really missed writing and expressing my information and to blow some steam !!

Reason why I have been out of action for a while is I decided to do some Fly In Fly Out work and was an amazing , interesting experience for me in Houskeeping..

Did my Induction and got my travelled dates so I landed up travelling by bus 2 hours to airport then waited another 2 for my plane, which travelled another 2hrs to our site camp.

I landed up been shown around the site which was just red sand everywhere, i landed up with my room which had a shower, toilet TV and single bed, and cupboards kinda cute.

Took a walk to the Kitchen area for Dinner and thought wow so many different things to choose from , steak, fish, stir fry and a great selection. Then you had puddings and ice cream and thought to myself DIET DIET DIET...LOL

Then started my work on the Wednesday got up at 5am put my uniform on and the boots, with 2 pairs of socks.

Met everyone and they were all amazing for the first 2 days..its like being at school where everyone wants to be your friend, so now I thought id do some housekeeping on the mine site, totally different to what I had been doing work wise.

My first day had to push a trolley , make beds and clean toilets the day had not even started at it was like 1pm , 45 deg and flies like you cannot believe and thought what have i got myself into..

I was told by one of the workers that She does not think this is perhaps not the type of work for me .....On my first day, thought HOW RUDE,....thing is she didn't last the 2nd week...lol

We had the mess which was the drinking area and I met some amazing people there it was so nice as it was about me this time, and felt good.

I was sent home on the first day as they said i had dehydration ! wow is this the thing for me ??

2nd Day was OK 3rd day , 4th day getting better and decided I had to get my fitness level back and started going to gym, so it was up at 5am start work at 730 and finish at 6pm go home and get gym clothes and walk there and once i did that work was way better.

Cleaning the dongas as we called them was an real eyeopener too some neat some disgusting thank goodness for safety wear otherwise while cleaning toilets you have "ewe" stuff splashing in your face, i even found a frog in one toilet.

It was a great wake up call I have never drunk so much water in all my life it was like 4L a day but the good thing is that i Lost 10kg in a week i was so impressed and felt so much better.

After eating every day same selection different things after the 2nd swing as my swing was 2 weeks work and 1 week at home. I landed up just having porridge .

Came home and it was nice but worst thing is getting back into routine of cooking and cleaning...

Went back for a 2nd stint and had a few issues which I had to sort out at home as hubby also worked away and he suggested i resign which i was abit sad to do.

So after I did i landed up going to visit him in Singapore, it was nice , hotel was abit out of town so landed up tanning most days while he worked, and then decided to go to Universal Studio which was great and thought Ok Monday it would be nice and quiet, so i go early and What a site packed as can be and wonder where does everyone come from!!!!

After a week in Singapore Hubby finished up his work and thought maybe a quick break to Phuket we haven't been there in 9 years and thought it would be nice.

Arrived , booked our accommodation just a cheapie place and our room wasn't ready so we walked the streets and was hounded by Absolute People which is like time sharing, and when you don't buy into there scheme and you say no you not prepared to give them $16k that day they called nasty.

Wherever you go they are like flies.  2nd day we landed up going to a place called Dolphin Bar and had about 4 beers so the bill was like 460 rupiah so i gave it to the lady at the bar, and i waited and waited so i asked nicely please can i have my change and wow ....out the blue she said Me not steal you can wait for change" i was sooo shocked the friendliness of people around Phuket has died.

Decided to try a breakfast at one of the Hotels, well we looked at the Menu and thought ok that looks nice and we ordered it and it came to us and i couldnt stop laughing my bacon looked like a pigs tail..

We had a ok holiday watched movies and markets just around the corner which was nice but really missed home too.

Came back to reality and all I do now is cook clean cook clean and Oh how i miss working away 

you dont hear the teens fighting, it feels like it does not end, and it shouldnt be like this, is it so hard to pick up after one self ?? wash your plate...we were not born to slave after anyone...

So guess what ! I am seeking FIFO work again..it was sooo peaceful lol..

well that is all my news for now and bedtime..
